Womzit announced Monday March 5th that it will be launching its debut iPhone App at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences and Festivals in Austin, TX (March 9-18, 2012). With over 5,000 events taking place at this annual convergence of original music, independent films and emerging technologies, one can easily get lost in the sea of choices.
Womzit, an abbreviation for “word-of-mouth it”, is a social utility that allows users to curate a personally relevant recommendation feed for them to both spread and discover great experiences through word-of-mouth recommendations. Tired of inane status updates that do not add value to anyone, the app aims to build a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about spreading experiences that are truly word-of-mouth worthy. These experiences could be as simple as an awesome new cafe, the latest fashion accessory, a great movie or even a street musician they just discovered.
Womzit is not about taking nice pictures. It is about recommending the things that matter. The app guides the user to select a recommendation level before snapping a picture or uploading an image of the product or place they are recommending. Users can “recommend”, “highly recommend”, or be “off-the-charts” about the experience. They can allocate their image to a category, tag it to a location and create a “brand tag” to make their recommendation even more discoverable. Their recommendations are seamlessly pushed out to existing social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Foursquare and Posterous.
